At NGYouthSDGs, we believe in the power of youth-driven innovation to tackle climate challenges and drive sustainable development. As part of the Empowering Youth Civil Societies to Build Stronger Communities in Nigeria project—implemented by NGYouthSDGs with funding from the German Embassy in Nigeria—we are proud to unveil the Sustainable Innovation Lab Case Study, a comprehensive documentation of the journey, impact, and innovations of 10 exceptional young changemakers in Nigeria. 🇳🇬🇩🇪

What is the Sustainable Innovation Lab?

The Sustainable Innovation Lab was designed to equip, empower, and resource young innovators with the tools, knowledge, and funding needed to scale climate solutions that align with Nigeria’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Through mentorship, training, and financial support, the program nurtured groundbreaking solutions that address pressing climate adaptation and mitigation challenges.

Below are SIL’s primary objectives:

Strengthen Climate Innovation Capacity: Equip young Nigerian innovators with critical skills through capacity-building sessions, mentorship, and structured support to enhance the viability and impact of their projects.

Prepare for Funding and Scale: Provide participants with resources and guidance to refine their climate innovations, preparing them to pitch for funding and potentially scale their solutions across affected communities in Nigeria.

Encourage Sustainable, Tech-Driven Solutions: Support the development of technology-based solutions that directly address climate adaptation and mitigation needs in line with Nigeria’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

Foster a Network of Climate Leaders: Build a collaborative lab where young innovators can exchange insights and best practices, creating a network of informed leaders driving sustainability across Nigeria.
