The ClimateActionForStrongerNaijaProject has been a game-changer for the Society for the Improvement of Rural People (SIRP) and the communities we serve in Enugu State. By providing vital knowledge on the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the project has empowered youth and marginalised groups to demand meaningful inclusion in climate governance.

Through this initiative, community members in Enugu State who previously lacked awareness about climate policies are now advocating for their rights. Youth and vulnerable groups are actively engaging with the Enugu State Government to push for more inclusive climate solutions. This advocacy effort is driving positive change by ensuring that their voices are heard in local climate discussions and decisions.

For SIRP, the project has significantly enhanced our organisational knowledge and skills. We’ve gained critical insights on integrating youth and marginalised voices into climate action planning. Moreover, the project facilitated new partnerships with key stakeholders across Nigeria, strengthening our influence and amplifying our impact.

Notably, the project provided us with valuable guidance on stakeholder engagement, enabling us to collaborate more effectively with government agencies and community leaders. These partnerships have opened doors for future projects focused on inclusive climate action in Enugu State.

The #ClimateActionForStrongerNaijaProject has not only empowered vulnerable communities but also positioned SIRP as a stronger and more effective advocate for climate resilience and sustainable development in Nigeria.
