HOW ARE YOU LOCALIZING THE SDGS IN NIGERIA?

My team focuses on providing young people with accurate health information to help them make informed health decisions and via our activities both online and offline we have been able to localize SDG 3 in Nigeria.

PLEASE TELL US MORE THE MAIN PROJECT YOU ARE WORKING ON

Our team provides Sexual health, Mental health and Fitness and Diet information for young people via our social media platforms and we also educate young people via a physical event we have themed “Stay Woke” which is a call for young people to take cognizance of their own health, we have held this event in Ekiti State University and are looking to expand to other higher institutions this year.

PLEASE SHARE SOME OF THE IMPACT STORIES

Our team participated in the Leap Africa Youth Leadership Program in 2020 and as a part of this program we carried out a change project, “Shey you Sabi”. This project was aimed at educating young people in Nigeria about existing digital platforms that provide sexual health information and services, we were able to reach and educate over 20,000 young people online across three social media platforms and also trained 25 young people as peer to peer champions in Ado-Ekiti.

HOW IS THE PROJECT ENSURING THAT NIGERIA ACHIEVES THE SDGS BY 2030?

Good health and well being is one of the key deliverables of the SDGs and with our activities our team is working hard to ensure that this goal is achieved especially for young people.

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OR CONSTRAINTS AFFECTING THE SUCCESS OF THIS PROJECT AND WHAT ARE THE SUPPORT YOU NEED?

The pandemic has limited our ability to carry out physical events in tertiary institutions and we of course need financial support.

YOUR ADVICE TO YOUNG PEOPLE

Keep moving forward!
