NGYouthSDGs ED Joshua Alade Speaks at ILO/ITU/AU Side Event on Creating Decent Jobs for Youth Through Digital Transformation

During the African Union and European Union Partnership Week, the International Labour Organization in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union and the African Union hosted a side event on Creating decent work for youth through digital transformation on February 16, 2022.

The aim of the side event was for participants to discuss solutions to create decent jobs for Africa’s growing youth population. The event centred on how to harness digital transformation and development recommendations to scale for successful interventions by African Union member states in collaboration with development partners and youth organizations.

The event had Ms Cynthia Samuel-Olonjuwon, the Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Africa, International Labour Organization, Ms Anne-Rachel Inne, Regional Director for Africa, International Telecommunication Union, Mr Joshua Alade, Executive Director, Nigeria Youth SDGs Network, Mr Abdul Gafaru Dasan Amin from Generation Connect – Africa Youth Group, Mr Dennis Horch, Cluster Coordinator for TVET, Skills Development and Employment, GIZ, South Africa and was moderated by Ms Lieve Verboven, Director, ILO Brussels.

During the webinar, the panel presented examples of partnerships between African Union members states and development partners, such as ILO/ITU/AU joint Programme on Boosting Decent Jobs and Enhancing Skills for Youth in Africa’s Digital Economy.
