Download – National Youth Policy (2019-2023)

Young people make up more than half of Nigeria’s 200 million population and their role in nation-building and development cannot be overemphasized. With a median age of 17, harnessing the demographic dividend is essential for the young people of Africa’s most populous country to lead and thrive.

The National Youth Policy (NYP) aims to promote the enjoyment of fundamental human rights and protect the health, social, economic and political well being of all young men and women in order to enhance their participation in the overall development process and improve their quality of life.

The NYP aims to improve youth development and participation in the actualisation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063.
