Youth Driving Policy
Nigeria Youth Employment Action Plan
Following the impact of COVID-19, NGYouthSDGs with funding from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs worked with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, the International Labour Organization, and the United Nations Children’s Fund via the UReport platform to understand the decent work aspirations of young Nigerians and how they want policymakers in Nigeria to support them. 212,000 young people under 29 over 6 weeks responded to a survey disseminated in person targeting youth in rural communities and online sharing their decent work aspirations.
This was followed by a youth validation lab across 36 states and the FCT with 850 youth organizations present. The feedback from the survey and the youth lab is a key component of the Nigerian Youth Employment Action Plan launched in September 2021.
Meaningful Youth Engagement & the 2030 Agenda
In line with the UN SDG Summit in 2023, the Network of Youth for Sustainable Initiative (NGYouthSDGs) in partnership with The United Nations Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth hosted a virtual consultation on meaningful youth engagement and the 2030 Agenda.
The virtual consultation had in attendance over ten young leaders and youth organizations to share insights and perspectives on challenges affecting the Youth in achieving the SDGs and how young people can be engaged as full-fledged partners in SDGs implementation.
