Edo State to Host Regional Youth Dialogue for International Youth Day 2019

The Edo State Sustainable Development Goals SDGs office will be commemorating the 2019 International Youth Day in partnership with the Nigerian Youth SDGs network.

The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on SDGs, Mrs.Eire Alufohai speaking during the meeting expressed her joy seeing youths who are passionate about SDGs while alluding to the fact that SDGs advocacy and awareness can only be driven by the youths.

The partnership meeting was led by Onuoha Chukwuebuka, the Edo State Coordinator of the Nigerian Youth SDGs Network, Theophilus Igbide, Amblessed Chidinma, Great Ighodaro, Chisom Alagba who are SDGs advocates of the University of Benin.

The partnership meeting held with Mrs. Eire Alufohai, the Edo State focal person on SDGs towards the Regional Youth Dialogue to commemorate the Int. Youth day which comes on the 10th of August.
The Edo State SDGs focal person pledged her support and continuous collaboration as she further tasked the Nigerian Youth SDGs network to harmonize all other youth-led organizations working around the SDGs for synergy. The event will have 150 young people in Benin, Edo with five young people sharing stories of their work on the SDGs and Mrs. Eire Alufohai as the keynote speaker.

The meeting was attended by Edo state focal person on SDGs, Mrs. Eire Alufohai, members of Edo SDGs office, our Edo State Coordinator, Onuoha Chukwuebuka, SDGs students advocates of the University of Benin.

The SDGs Regional Youth Dialogue which will be happening in 20 states across the six geopolitical zone of Nigeria will focus on highlighting the works of the young people of the state in creating solutions to advancing the SDGs with emphasis on access to education, clean water and sanitation, decent jobs and climate action. It will also serve as an opportunity to gather data on the level of involvement of Nigerian youth and the SDGs.
