Honouring a Legacy, Advancing a Mission: Reflections from the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma 3rd Annual Impact and Legacy Lecture

Our Chief of Staff, Rahmon Saheed, recently represented NGYouthSDGs at the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma 3rd Annual Impact and Legacy Lecture at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Lagos. The event, organised by the CLEEN Foundation and the Innocent Chukwuemeka Chukwuma Empowerment Foundation (ICCEF), was a profound gathering of thought leaders, activists, policymakers, and changemakers committed to social justice, equity, and good governance.

The theme, “The Personal is Political: Lessons from the Life of Innocent Chukwuma“, was a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of Innocent Chukwuma’s work. A tireless advocate for human rights, justice sector reform, and gender equality, his legacy continues to shape conversations and actions around building a just and inclusive society.

The keynote address delivered by Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, former First Lady of Ekiti State, was both passionate and urgent. She highlighted Innocent Chukwuma’s feminist principles and called on men to become allies in the fight against patriarchy and misogyny. Her message emphasised the importance of solidarity, responsibility, and active support for women’s empowerment, principles that are central to NGYouthSDGs’ advocacy for gender equality.
