In upholding our commitment to ensuring youth involvement in environmental sustainability and climate action, NGYouthSDGs participated in an Interfaith Dialogue on Climate Change, organised by Connected Development (CODE).
This dialogue brought together a diverse group of people, including NGYouthSDGs YAL Associate, Godwin Lasisi, faith leaders, climate experts, and community stakeholders. The event aimed to foster interfaith collaboration on climate action, highlighting the moral and ethical imperatives within various faith traditions to care for the environment.

Mukhtar Modibo delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the urgency of climate action and the pivotal role faith communities play in fostering environmental stewardship. He introduced the theme of the symposium, “Faith in a Time of Changing Climates,” highlighting the need for collective action across different faiths to address the pressing issue of climate change.

Dr Augustine Okere presented the major findings from a recently developed policy brief on climate change. His presentation focused on critical issues, evidence-based conclusions, and strategic recommendations aimed at informing and educating participants. He highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on vulnerable communities and the necessity for comprehensive and inclusive climate policies. Dr Augustine Okere also formally launched the policy brief, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to address climate change through informed policy action. They stressed the importance of this document as a guiding tool for future climate initiatives and called for collaborative efforts to implement its recommendations.

The first-panel session “Finding Common Ground: Scriptural Teachings on Environmental Care”,
features Habiba Ahmed, Mrs Zahra Yusuf, Dr Victor Ivoke, and Pastor Tunde Okediji as panellists. These representatives from Christian and Muslim faith groups discussed specific passages from their scriptures that emphasize the importance of environmental care. The discussion highlighted the common ground shared across faith regarding the moral duty to protect and preserve the Earth. Panelists shared insights on how these teachings can inspire collective action and environmental stewardship within their communities.
