NGYouthSDGs Champion Ajaja Olufemi Attends Documentary by British High Commission to Commemorate International Day of Biological Diversity

The British High Commission invited environmentalists and civil society organizations to the screening of COP26 People’s Ambassador David Attenborough’s A Life on Our Planet to commemorate International Day of Biological Diversity. The event hosted by the British High Commission, Catriona Laing had the Honourable Minister for Environment, Dr Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar and the Honourable Minister of State Sharon Ikeazor.

The welcome address was anchored by the British High Commissioner, Amb. Catriona Laing CB.
Thereafter, the goodwill message was delivered by the Hon Minister for Environment Mrs Sharon Ikeazor. Shortly after, the documentary screening of COP26 People’s Advocate, David Attenborough’s A Life on Our Planet, on the Biological Diversity losses and degradation was streamed on the screen.

The 45 minutes documentary highlighted the endemic impact of environmental activities such as deforestation and poaching and the damages it does to the environment and nature in particular. The guests at the screening were invited to share how their work is helping to address challenges facing the environment and highlight how to protect biodiversity loss in Nigeria.

The closing remark by the Honourable Minister urged everyone present to continue working towards conserving nature and the environment. She encouraged the guests to be strategic in their collaboration and partnership approach with relevant stakeholders, private institutions and the MDAs for better integration to sustain biological diversity in the country.
