Nigeria Youth SDGs Network nominated three young Nigerians Tracy Iyemene, Blessing Ashi and Elizabeth Ita for the 2021 Global Youth Forum happening virtually between August 2nd and 20th. The forum which is organized by the International Training Centre, the training arm of the International Labour Organization seeks to recognize and engage young people in the frameworks and processes that support the implementation, follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The training which has a core faculty of UN International development practitioners and youth ambassadors is an experiential learning platform bringing youth to the forefront of efforts aimed at supporting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieving its Sustainable Development Goals.
Iyemene Tracy
Tracy is a Human Anatomist (with First Class Honours), digital marketing expert and mental
health counsellor who champions the work of Nigeria Youth SDGs Network in Delta state.
She is a certified Boast with Facebook trainer.
Tracy is the cohost of the Decent Workshop, a biweekly podcast by Nigeria Youth SDGs
Network which bridges the gap between young people and stakeholders working to
improve decent work in Nigeria and creating awareness on how youth can develop skills
needed to attain decent work.
Elizabeth Ita
Elizabeth Ita is a Digital Polymath, IBM certified Design thinking practitioner and freelance multi-disciplinary graphic designer who delivers creative and engaging solutions across brand identity, print and digital media. She has certifications from institutions like Microsoft, IBM, IREX, Google, amongst others.
She is the Founder of Stilt Ng – a peer-to-peer mental health support group that employs telehealth systems to access the impact of mental health and promote mental health education. Telehealth is the distribution of health-related services and information via electronic information and telecommunication technologies. It allows long-distance contact, care, advice, reminders, education, intervention and monitoring. Through this medium, Stilt Ng has recorded an impact reaching many people in Nigeria, Africa and even in some other parts of the world. She was also a TFAA15 (The Future Awards Africa) Nominee in the Health and Wellness category based on her work with Stilt Ng.
Blessing Ashi
Blessing Ashi is a Digital Skills Programs Manager and Sexual Reproductive Health Advocate with over 7 years of experience.
She has spent the last 7 years advocating for the SRHR of young people. As a result of her passion for addressing SRHR issues, Blessing got nominated as a United Nations Population Fund Youth Participatory Platform Member in Lagos. Currently, Blessing serves as a Board Member for a couple of organizations focused on SRHR, and works as a Programs Manager for Sustainable Impact and Development Initiative, a Non-profit focused solely on improving the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of young people.
During the three weeks forum, they will expand their knowledge on the context and prospects of global youth employment in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic, youth leadership, engagement and empowerment to accelerate SDG achievement, fundamentals of project design and implementation for SDG impact as well as leadership and soft skills for the design, planning and pursuit of an international career.
The three young Nigerians are being sponsored by the International Labour Organization – Abuja Office to participate in the 2021 Summer Global Youth Forum.
